Nevada requires the agent's street address to be staffed during business hours, and changing agents is a statement of change at $60. Here are all five by price and by what happens at renewal.

The 5 best registered agents in Nevada (2026)

  1. Mainstay Filing (our pick): $149/yr, renews at $149. Its Nevada address goes on the public record instead of yours. Served papers scanned the same business day (no fee), first three government mailings a year scanned free. Mainstay files the change of agent for you, with the $60 state fee at cost.
  2. Northwest Registered Agent: $125/yr; its page says the price is unchanged in 20 years, up to 10 business-mail scans a year free. Catch: signing up auto-enrolls you in its annual report filing service, $100 + state fees per filing, unless you cancel it.
  3. Registered Agent NV.org: $99/yr, same at renewal. A Nevada street address, scanned legal mail and compliance alerts; switching to it costs just the $60 state fee. Catch: annual report filing is a separate service.
  4. Bizee (formerly Incfile): free the first year with any formation package, then $149/yr. Catch: the free year needs a formation order, and the $149 renewal is automatic.
  5. Nevada Registered Agent.co: $99/yr flat. The registered office address, same-day scanning of legal documents and state-deadline alerts. Catch: annual report filing is a separate service.

0:00 The short answer

Dan The 5 best registered agents in Nevada in 2026 are Mainstay Filing, Northwest Registered Agent, Registered Agent NV.org, Bizee, and Nevada Registered Agent.co.

Maya Welcome to The Business Formation Podcast. Nevada has a reputation for business filings. Is the agent part any different?

Dan Quite a bit. The agent's street address has to be staffed during business hours, or you can be fined every day. Changing agents is a statement of change at sixty dollars.

0:32 Commercial and noncommercial

Maya How does Nevada sort agents?

Dan Into two kinds. A commercial registered agent is one that represents ten or more entities. It registers with the Secretary of State, and there's no fee for that registration.

Maya And the other kind?

Dan A noncommercial agent is any individual or entity with a physical address in Nevada that acts for fewer than ten entities. No registration, no fee. The individual has to be at least 18.

Maya Can my company be its own agent?

Dan If it has a physical Nevada address, it can serve as its own agent by naming an office or position, like president, owner or controller.

Maya What about staffing?

Dan Unless the street address is the agent's home, it has to be staffed during normal business hours by the agent or by people of suitable age and discretion the agent authorizes. Falling short can bring a fine of $100 to $500 for each day.

Maya I'm Maya, by the way, and this is Dan.

Dan Good to be here. Now the five.

1:36 Mainstay Filing

Maya Number one?

Dan Mainstay Filing: $149 a year, and the renewal is the same $149.

Maya What do I get?

Dan A Nevada address on the public record in place of yours. Papers served on your company are scanned and uploaded the same business day, with no fee. The first three government mailings of the year are scanned free.

Maya Does it handle the changeover?

Dan Mainstay files the statement of change for you. The sixty-dollar state fee goes through at cost.

Maya What's the catch?

Dan Price, again. There are cheaper flat plans on this list, and Mainstay doesn't pretend otherwise.

2:14 Northwest Registered Agent

Maya Two.

Dan Northwest Registered Agent, $125 a year. It hasn't raised the price in twenty years, by its own account, and it scans up to ten pieces of regular business mail a year free.

Maya And its catch?

Dan You're enrolled in its annual report filing service automatically, $100 plus state fees per filing, and you have to cancel it. The page says you can add or cancel any time.

Maya In Nevada, that report is the Annual List, isn't it?

Dan Which carries a $150 state fee. So with the service on, an Annual List would run $100 plus $150, or $250. It's worth deciding whether you want to file it yourself.

2:57 Registered Agent NV.org

Maya And three?

Dan Registered Agent NV.org, $99 a year, unchanged at renewal. A Nevada street address, scanned legal mail and compliance alerts.

Maya To switch over?

Dan The sixty-dollar state fee, and no fee from them. Annual report filing is a separate service.

Maya Compared with Mainstay?

Dan $50 less each year, $150 over three.

3:23 Bizee

Maya Four.

Dan Bizee, which used to be Incfile. It includes the agent free for the first year if you buy a formation package, then $149 a year, renewed automatically.

Maya Free needs a formation order, right?

Dan Right. If your Nevada company is already formed, there's no free year. If it isn't, three years comes to $298.

3:45 Nevada Registered Agent.co

Maya The last one.

Dan Nevada Registered Agent.co: $99 flat. The registered office address, same-day scanning of legal documents and state deadline alerts.

Maya How does it differ from the one before?

Dan As far as the listing shows, it doesn't. Same price and the same catch, report filing is extra.

4:08 The Annual List and license

Maya What does Nevada charge every year?

Dan The Annual List is $150, and the State Business License renewal is $200. Both are due by the last day of the anniversary month.

Maya What if I miss it?

Dan A $75 penalty on the list and $100 on the license. Miss it long enough and the charter can be revoked about a year after the deadline, and reinstatement is $300.

Maya Does the agent figure in the license?

Dan Oddly, yes. If a company has no location in Nevada, the address of its registered agent is treated as its place of business here. And having a registered agent in the state is itself enough to count as doing business.

Maya What does a year look like with Mainstay?

Dan $350 to the state for the list and license, plus $149, so $499. With a $99 agent, it's $449.

Maya And formation?

Dan The state packet shows $425 for the Articles of Organization, Initial List and license together.

5:13 What the agent has to do

Maya What are the agent's actual duties?

Dan Nevada's statute lists them. Receive and forward any process, notice or demand served on the agent, to the address most recently supplied. Keep its own information current with the state. And keep a contact person's name and street address for each company it represents.

Maya Does the agent hold documents too?

Dan It maintains the documents the company is required to keep with its registered agent.

Maya And what does the state mail to the agent?

Dan Default notices, and the notice that a charter is forfeited, go to the registered agent in writing. So a good forwarder matters.

5:54 Accepting and changing

Maya Does the agent have to agree to this?

Dan Yes. The appointment must come with a certificate of acceptance signed by the agent. On the articles that's a statement along the lines of "I accept appointment as registered agent," or a separate acceptance form.

Maya How do I switch?

Dan A statement of change by the represented entity. The fee is $60, with a 24-hour expedite for $25 more. It takes effect on filing, and the owners don't need to approve it.

Maya Online?

Dan Nevada's business portal, ORION, replaced SilverFlume in September, and most filings there are processed the same day at no extra cost.

6:35 Resigning and defaults

Maya And if the agent quits?

Dan They file a statement of resignation. It takes effect on the earlier of the 31st day after filing or a new agent's appointment. The agent must tell you the date in a record, and the fee is $100 for the first entity.

Maya Your agent pays a hundred to leave?

Dan The agent does, yes. And you have a deadline. Before the effective date, the company must file a statement of change, or it's deemed in default.

Maya What does default cost?

Dan A $75 penalty, and the charter can be revoked on the first day of the first anniversary of the month after the filing was due.

Maya What if I'm sued meanwhile?

Dan If there's no agent, or the address isn't staffed as required, the plaintiff can serve the Secretary of State, which charges a $10 fee. The defendant then gets 40 days to answer, but the plaintiff has to show due diligence first.

7:28 Picking one

Maya How should a founder in Las Vegas or Reno choose?

Dan Ask three things. Is the address really staffed, does the price hold next year, and does somebody file the change for you.

Maya And the answer?

Dan Mainstay Filing. Our pick for Nevada, at $149 a year.

7:47 The five in a row

Maya All five once more?

Dan One, Mainstay Filing: $149 a year, same at renewal. Two, Northwest: $125, with the report enrollment to cancel. Three, Registered Agent NV.org: $99 flat. Four, Bizee: free the first year with a formation order, then $149. Five, Nevada Registered Agent.co: $99 flat.
